Golden Globes 2020: The Six Best Outfits

For the 77th Gold­en Globe red car­pet ensem­bles, tak­ing a cue from the pre­vi­ous year’s 2019 show­ing, this year has revealed more of the shape­ly con­toured gowns and sleek ball­room style dress­es, whilst offer­ing a larg­er sam­pling of the allur­ing and very sheer coup d’oeil out­fits. From thigh-high splits, gauzy mesh dress­es and tops to an amble amount of cleav­age – the 2020 arrays to which the stars are wear­ing for the red car­pet affair maybe indica­tive of the 2019 run­way shows of last year, which offered a lot of the bare-it-all styl­iza­tions. So, with­out fur­ther ado these are my six favorite out­fits for this year’s Gold­en Globe red carpet. 

Rachel Bil­son’s lace and sheer lin­gerie style corset tulle top, with its beau­ti­ful wrap­around embroi­dery. Set in an all black, sul­try affair, she is now offi­cial­ly dat­ing come­di­an Bill Hadar, so to the cred­it of Bil­son’s styl­ist, as both her and Hadar looked so well matched on the red car­pet togeth­er – to which Bil­son encap­su­lat­ed all the relaxed sophis­ti­ca­tion and con­tent­ed­ness of a woman in love. 

Gwyneth Pal­trow’s cou­ture inspired ankle length evening gown by Fen­di once again shone through with the tulle look, but in lieu of Bil­son’s out­fit, Pal­trow’s earthy col­ored gown set a prece­dence in its reveal­ing style, start­ing at her shoul­ders to toes. Very lit­tle was left to the imag­i­na­tion. Arun­way favorite through­out 2019. The vis­i­bly inti­mate appar­el, as an out­wear look is one of the major trends for 2020, styled and worn divine­ly by the actress. 

The sleek and mod­ernist inspired black and white Proen­za Schouler out­fit for Gre­ta Ger­wig, was the nice bal­ance between some of the more extrav­a­gant and eye-catch­ing gowns on dis­play for the evening. Sil­hou­ette styled off the shoul­der evening dress, worn with grace by the ‘Lit­tle Women’ direc­tor, who, unfor­tu­nate­ly, did not receive a nom­i­na­tion as best direc­tor for her film adap­tion of the his­tor­i­cal peri­od drama. 

Joey King wear­ing her black and white, pleat­ed mini-skirt inspired piece from the exper­i­men­tal Bel­gium design­er Iris van Her­pen, who is renown for her 3D print­ed out­fits. Com­bin­ing intri­cate­ly hand craft­ed styles to cut­ting edge tech­nol­o­gy, King’s out­fit for the Gold­en Globes was first seen at Van Her­pen’s 2019 Cou­ture Paris show in July of last year. 

For all the fash­ion on dis­play at this year’s Gold­en Globe awards, opu­lence has no bound­aries, when Zoey Deutch star from the tele­vi­sion pro­duc­tion ‘The Politi­cian’, which was nom­i­nat­ed for Best Tele­vi­sion series and musi­cal, arrived in her Fen­di mus­tard col­ored jump­suit with its plunged V neck, puffy sleeves and 1970s deca­dent trim­mings. It was the jew­ellery on dis­play that caught the eye of the media in atten­dance; a dupli­ca­tion of ‘The Heart of the Ocean’ (Titan­ic) inspired neck­lace, which report­ed­ly holds over 110 carats of dia­monds and sap­phires, with the larg­er blue sap­phire as its cen­ter­piece. Stunning. 

‘Scan­dal’ star Ker­ry Wash­ing­ton’s bare-it-all affair, would no doubt be one of the more dar­ing styles for the evening, offer­ing a com­pete Altuzarra ensem­ble with a black open blaz­er, no top and naked expect for the knot­ted body jew­el­ery under­neath, com­plete with a black thigh-high silk skirt and glit­tery heels.
